JNL College History

Jagat Narain Lal College (A constituent unit of Patliputra University, Patna, Bihar) was established in the year 1960. The land was then donated by Late Jagat Narain Lal, who was a well known freedom fighter and a Cabinet minister of Bihar in was humbly started in the year1950s. The college is situated 1 Km South of the Danapur Railway Station and 5 Km to the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. This college was established with the motive of spreading the light of education among the weaker section of this backward semi-urban area, where most of the residents had agricultural background. It should be noted that, this was the only college imparting education up to graduation level in this semi-urban area. It was first affiliated to Bihar University, Muzzaffarpur on dated 23rd March, 1960 but later on it becomes the constituent unit of Magadh University, Bodh Gaya. Further, in 2018, college was further taken over by newly constituted Patliputra University, Patna. The College is situated in a magnificent, beautiful and picturesque of NH-98. The college premise is at a distance of about 500 m from Moti Chowk (Main Road, Patna). Presently, the college has more 3500 on roll, imparting education in two faculties (Science and Arts) up to Degree Honours level to the students belonging to economically and socially backward communities. The vision of the College is to improve the quality of life of economically, socially and educationally backward section of the society through imparting quality higher education.
